The English Faculty at Manor CE Academy is a creative and innovative place to be. It is a vibrant subject area where exciting, exhilarating and energetic teaching takes place. All students experience high quality teaching and superb resources in a welcoming environment.
In lower school, students learn how to write for a variety of purposes and develop their reading abilities in a range of contexts. In upper school, students take GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature.
Through varied and thought-provoking schemes of work, all students are encouraged to take a critical and creative approach to the study of English. Students explore and engage with an array of modern and English Literary Heritage texts; they are encouraged to be critical thinkers and explorers of the world of literature.
The faculty places great value on speaking and listening work, which is an essential part of all programmes of study across the year groups as well as being an essential life skill. The students enjoy a plethora of activities such as debating, presentations and drama performances throughout both Key Stages and they are also given the opportunity to be involved with regional and national projects.
The central aims of the English Faculty at Manor CE Academy are to develop, stimulate and maintain a high level of enjoyment and enthusiasm for all aspects of the subject via a vibrant curriculum, delivered by passionate teachers.
