Science is life. Everything we do involves science, from the food we eat to the air we breathe.  Here in the science department at Manor we aim to develop and inspire a curiosity for learning – asking the questions of how and why things happen, blending this with a scientific literacy that will stay with the students throughout their lives.  In lessons we combine scientific knowledge and understanding with hands on practical experience, problem solving and research, much as science is in real life. 

In Years 7, 8and 9 the students follow the Exploring Science curriculum. Years 10 and 11 students follow the Edexcel GCSE exam specifications in Combined Science or opt to follow the triple science programme (separate GCSE’s in Biology, Chemistry and Physics). 

Our department is staffed by experienced and enthusiastic staff who cover all three specialisms.  We are proud to be able to say that teaching takes place in one of 7 well equipped science labs.  In addition, we also offer exciting extracurricular activities featuring various science clubs and our Physics Olympics team.
