MANOR CE ACADEMY IS PART OF

Year 11 GCSE Stand down

Year 11 GCSE Stand down

24 April 2018

Dear Parent/Carer,

Before Easter, your child received a copy of the exam timetable and JCQ regulations. We have now finalised your child’s personalised exam timetable, and this has been issued to the students today i.e. 24th April. This year the Majority of our Year 11 students will have completed most of their GCSE exams by Friday 15th June. Historically, we have offered students study leave starting at May half term.

However, after consultation with all Directors of Learning and after analysing the demands of the GCSE exam timetable, we have decided to extend the time we expect students to be in school. We have a high number of exams which all students will be taking after half term, so we feel it is appropriate that they will be in school during this period and there will be no study leave offered.

It is expected that pupils will continue to attend school and behave appropriately during this time. In the event that behaviour in school is poor, the school will remove the privilege of attending the prom. In this eventuality, school will communicate with home and unfortunately the ticket price will not be refunded. We are currently finalising a programme of inschool exam revision sessions for the three weeks after half term; details of this are to follow.

Within this bespoke revision period we intend to use the LRC as a silent study zone for any student who wishes to prepare independently. On the afternoon of the 13th June there will be an opportunity for the Year 11s to gather together for a final assembly and shirt signing. They will then leave the school premises by 2pm. It is advisable for students to keep at least one clean school shirt available for any remaining exams.

There are a small number of exams in the third week after half term; these are Hospitality and Catering, Dance, German and Product Design. Students entered for these exams are encouraged to stay in school to make use of available revision and preparation classes. They will also be expected to attend school in full uniform for these final exams. May we take this opportunity to wish your son/daughter the very best of luck with the final GCSE exams.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. I. Nariani
Vice Principal: Attainment & Learning
