A group of 69 students from Years 10-11 took to the slopes in Saalbach, Austria for a week earlier this month, on Manor CE Academy’s biannual ski trip.
The students were lucky with the weather (if you call -12 degrees lucky!). There was certainly plenty of snow during the week, although on one of the days there was just too much snow and the road to Saalbach had to be closed. However, the skiers weren’t out of action for long and managed to get an afternoon of skiing at nearby Leogang.
The students did incredibly well with their skiing and many even attempted a slalom race and some backwards skiing – mostly successfully!
In addition to some great days of skiing, the group also had a trip to Zell am See, went along to an ice hockey match, went swimming and bowling and took part in a very competitive quiz night.
On his return from the trip, Mr Tasker said “This is the largest group we have ever taken away skiing and the vast majority had never been skiing before. As a group they worked really hard in challenging conditions and were in great spirits throughout making it one of the best trips yet.”
