Dear Parent/Carer
Cycle Safety
We are delighted that so many of our students cycle to school; however we have been concerned recently by a couple of incidents involving our students. The safety of our students is a top priority, and we would encourage all students to be very careful about cycling to and from school, and we would ask for your support in this.
Just before school, and just after school the cycle lanes around school can be very busy, and all students should be aware of other cyclists, as well as pedestrians. We have had a number of members of the public complaining about cyclists not being aware of the others on the pavement, especially from people with prams, or more worryingly cycling out in front of on-coming traffic. Millfield lane is a cul-de-sac, however there are large lorries and other vehicles that use this road, and cyclists must be aware of other vehicles.
If your child does cycle to school please would you speak with them about their safety and cycling correctly? Your support with this matter is appreciated.
It is very good that so many of our students cycle to school and we want to make sure that they do this in a safe way.
Kind regards
Thomas Candlin
