Able and interested pupils are identified through one of two methods. Firstly, all Year 7 pupils take CATs cognitive ability tests at the beginning of the Autumn term. Any child who scores an average of 120 or above will be placed on the whole-school ‘Able and Interested’ register. Secondly, twice a year all staff will be asked to nominate any pupils who they consider to be especially able in their subject. This is then collated and any pupil who secures five or more recommendations will also be added to the whole-school register.
